HIV is a sexually transmitted disease. Initial symptoms and signs of hiv include: Fever, Headache, Tiredness, Nausea, Diarrhea, Enlarged lymph nodes in the neck, armpits or groin.
These symptoms usually disappear on their own within a few weeks. After that, the person feels normal and has no symptoms. This asymptomatic phase often lasts for years.
The progression of disease varies widely among individuals. This state may last from a few months to more than 10 years.
Clinical latent infection typically lasts 8 to 10 years. A few people stay in this stage even longer, but others progress to more-severe disease much sooner.
If you think you may have been infected with HIV or are at risk of contracting the virus, seek medical counseling as soon as possible.
